Challenge #16 “Dots and Stripes”

A new challenge was posted on April 15 here at  A Day For Daisies and a free digi image was offered so everyone has a chance to do the challenge. It was asked “are you a dot or a stripe person, perhaps both” I couldn’t decide which I liked the best so on my card I have both. The image is very cute and I coloured it with prisma pencils and oms. I cut the image with the largest circle die and cut the embossed part of the border off. Then I cut the same size in red to highlight the image. I then used the largest scalloped circle die to add some interest. The dp  and ribbon is from SU.  I cut slits in the circle to thread the ribbon through, I think it brings attention to the sweet digi image.

Happy Easter

Over at Stamp in Canada we had an April one on one swap, the theme was Easter. I have a lot of House Mouse stamps and love to use them as much as I can. The stamp I used is Sweet Relief featuring Maxwell, Mudpie, Monica and Amanda. Easter to me is lots and lots of jellybeans, I like the red and green ones best. I coloured with prismas and oms. The cardstock I used was Lavender lace and elegant eggplant. I punched the butterfly out of vellum and coloured it with a purple spica glitter pen.

I made the charm that is hanging on the ribbon, one of my first attempts at making a charm. It is also purple. Here is a close-up of the charm.

White on White with a Touch of Colour

On Sunday two of my “stamping buddies” and I  had a virtual “get-together” It was so much fun crafting and chatting, it was like having friends over to “play”. This is the card I made for Lynn’s challenge on Pages in Time, White on White with a touch of colour, the sketch I used was also posted for those who wanted to use it.
My touch of colour was bashful blue the rest of the card was done with Georgia Pacific white cardstock. I tried something new again, I finally opened my cool highlights ritz glitter that has been sitting on my shelf since I bought it last year at Scrapfest. Most of the rest of the card was dry embossed with the Textile embossing folder. The scalloped raised frame around the image was adapted from a project on Stamp TV.

Vintage Finished

I am really beginning to love vintage and when I saw this challenge on the Crop Stop Blog I knew I just had to pull out my retired Roses in Winder set from Stamping Up. This set can be used for all occasions, wedding, anniversary, birthday or a thinking of you card. I tried a new to me technique…….Cracked Glass. I have had the utee for several years but never even opened the jar. I was very excited when it all worked out the first try. My new spellbinders Fleur dis Lis Motifs got another work out for the medallion behind the image. I layered the image on a scalloped edge spellbinder die cut and popped it up on the medallion. Very Vanilla cs used for the background was embossed with the Textile embossing folder. Lace and ribbon from the dollar store.

If I had a Million Dollars….Drunken Stamper’s Challenge #62

I had a little time this afternoon and thought I would make a card for the Drunken Stamper's Challenge. The image  I used is “See the World” from Stampabilities

     .

Drunken Stampers Challeng #62 If I had a MIllion Dollars

I used Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Red and Early Expresso card stock, Versafine Sepia ink and coloured with prismas and oms.

I also did a few pictures on how I did the image.

                            Inking stamps 001

First I inked the stamp with Versafine ink left it sitting on my table.

                              Inking stamps 002

I then put the 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 piece of cards stock on top, take your brayer and holding the cardstock roll the brayer over the cardstock one swipe is usually best or you will get a double image, this does take a bit of practice.

                             Inking stamps 003

The finished image all nice and crisp, this works really well with the large background images.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial taught to me by Natalie from the Butterfly Moon in Lyndoch, Ontario.

Are you sponge worthy?

This card is for the Drunken Stampers Challenge posted  here to do sponging on your card. This is my attempt at sponging.
Thinking of you and Sympathy 002
I stamped the Artful Stamper image with versamark watermark and embossed in white. I sponged it with distress inks tumbled glass and peeled paint. The image was mounted on SU pear pizzazz and the So Saffron layer was embossed with the Argyle folder. Sentiment is from Warmest Regards.
Not much happening here in SWO, it’s windy and dull, a great day to stay in and get some crafting done. I have 8 more cards to make for a friend and the April swap card for SC. So glad you took some time to drop by and visit.

A bit of spring on a snowy day

Wow what a day!!! I can’t believe all the snow outside right now. The only thing good about snow in April it doesn’t last long. I think what we need is something to brighten the day.
This card I made is for a March challenge on Stamp in Canada, the card has travelled all the way to PEI to the recipient. It is a one way swap. It is monthly  and sometimes there is a theme to follow.
The theme for March was Bring on Spring!!
                    IMG_1083
The stamp is a House Mouse stamp called Painting Panssies. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Quatros.which was punched out with the SU Decorative Label punch. The image was coloured with prismas & oms. I put crystal ice stickles on the flowers and leave. TFL.
So happy you stopped by to visit today, you are welcome any time.
