Shopping Our Stash #245 Something for the Big/Biggest Boys

March is winding down, the weather still doesn't know what to do we go from almost spring to freezing rain within days, March came in like a lion ~~ wonder if it is going out the same way.

Alica is our host for challenge #245 at Shopping Our Stash and we want a project for the BIG or BIGGEST boys. (masculine/teen).  Masculine cards are not the easiest for me to do but this time I have had so many firsts.....the first time I have used the stamp set. first time for the die that goes with it, first time I used one of my Kaleidacolor ink pads ( I have 4 that have never been out of the cellophane) I guess I'm not one for trying things I have not practiced with, I know it's not perfect but I closed my eyes and went with it.

The stamp set and die are from Local King Rubber I bought the stamp 4 years ago and the die two years ago at Scrapfest in Kitchener. Last year I bought more stamps and dies from them, this year I am not going near the booth. The ink pad I used is Autumn leaves and this was the first time I have inked a brayer to do a background. I had so much trouble cutting one horse I decided that's all the card needed. I will give this card to my son who's birthday is Thursday, On Sunday we celebrated Easter, our great grandson's birthday, my birthday and our son's birthday. One dinner 4 celebrations!!

I need a lot more practice with this horse die best I go look at the video of how to do it.

I finished the inside with the sentiment on a top note die cut

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the SOS blog and see what the rest of the design team have made for the challenge.

Happy Easter!!!

Just a quick post today to wish everyone that celebrates a very Happy Easter. We will be getting together today to celebrate Easter and three birthdays that have fallen very close to Easter Sunday. Quite often we have had our celebration at our cottage in Turkey Point and we do a slow-cooker dinner but this year Easter has arrived early and it's still a bit too cold to spend time there, and probably very muddy too. I also made a cute candy holder for our great grandson, it's small and only holds a little bit of candy.

I found the template for the box on Split coast Stampers with instructions and a video for using the Stampin'up dies and stamps. I don't have either so I "winged" it to make the bunny. I put the plaid on the ears and bow tie as it looks more masculine.

Here is the back of the holder I used a white pom pom for his tail

The back triangle tucks under the bow to close the holder up, as you see there won't be any chocolate overload in this gift box.

Thanks for looking today and I hope your day was AWESOME!!!

Take Me To The Vintage Church!!!

Don't you love it when you see a challenge and know you are going to love it!!! Merry Monday's Christmas challenge blog has a new challenge and it is to put a Church on your project and at the same time Jingle Belles Rock a Vintage challenge so I put the two together and this is what I came up with.

Believe it or not it's another PSX stamp, now this has not seen ink (by me) as I bought it at a yard sale or some sort of sale  but at the time I loved PSX stamps and really had to have it. The image was coloured with copics and cut with a large spellbinder circle. I had some gold paper and made a rick rack frame for the stamp and popped it up on the embossed background. The frame was made with the large scalloped circle die and the large inverted circle die, when cutting it I off set the inverted die so the points were across from the scallops. Most of the card is made with Very Vanilla cardstock with the exception of the gold frame.

I had the vanilla lace out for another project and the button was sitting on my table and just begging to be used.

The inside was finished with a gold embossed sentiment.

Challenges I would like to enter:

Shopping Our Stash challenge #244 ~~ Cuckoo for You!!!

Looking for the Clear it Out Post Scroll down or click HERE.

Who comes up with these challenges for Shopping Our Stash? Chana that's who!! and you have to go to Shopping Our Stash blog and see what she made for the challenge, all I can say is AWESOME.
Now the challenge is Cuckoo for You ~ Use clocks, or paper/stamps/dies with clocks. I found some free digital paper on Pinterest and a sweet image and here is how it all came together.

I don't have much in the line of clock things but I had that cute charm? sitting on my table and to me it looked like a clock and it says Wish.

Close up of the charm? and clock that the little girl has in her hand.

Inside, I wanted to use the sentiment on the front but it was too large. I think it is a great quote.

Thanks for visiting today and it would be fabulous to see your take on the challenge.

It's Challenge Time at Clear it Out Tuesday!!!

Clear it Out Tuesday  has a new challenge this week, and it's Easter, the stash item to use on your project is Buttons. The Sponsors for the challenge are Robyn's Fetish and Di's Digis I hope you find some time to go to their stores and have a look at what they have to offer.  Here is what I made for the challenge.

The digital image I chose is from Robyn's Fetish, I made this for a friend and the challenge. I love purple at Easter. The image and purple layer was cut with Elizabeth Crafts stitched rectangles and the white layer was embossed with the tulip border folder. The stash item of course is buttons and I used the last 6 of my tiny primary coloured flower buttons, now that is using some serious stash.

Closer look at the buttons

Inside sentiment is computer generated  from Verses 4 Cards.

Thanks for stopping by today and we would love to see the Easter projects you have made just remember to put buttons on it.

Wow Vintage #4 for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge.

I was so excited about the Spirit of Christmas Past challenge at Jingle Belles rock I dug out all my vintage stamps well maybe not all I still have a few hidden. These three of the four stamps had never really made a card before, the one I used today is another PSX and it was used once for a Christmas Swap but never inked again. I tried something I've never done before. And here is what I did.

I stamped in versamark watermark and embossed in clear and watercoloured it with my distress markers. I hope I achieved the effect of watercolour.  The lacy layer is attached to vanilla shimmer cardstock and on a cranberry base.

Sentiment is on very vanilla to finish the inside of the card.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #55 ~ L is for Legend

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers have a NEW AWESOME challenge for you this fortnight, L is for Legends so we want to see Mythical, Magical Creatures. Isn't this a fabulous idea. I knew immediately what I wanted to do for the challenge and it is called Darkling by Janna Prosvirina, I received it when her digis were on Sweet Pea, I miss that site.  Here is my Mythical/Magical creature.

This was coloured with a mixture of copics and Spectrum noir, the background is chalked and much, much more colourful IRL. I added the spider web (bought a pack last October) the patterned paper is from a Bo Bunny Halloween pack.

As I only used half the spider web I used the other half on the inside. Not know what or who I will use this card for I have left off the sentiment.

Thanks for checking my blog today and let's see your L is for Legend project, you have until April 1st at 11.59 p.m. to enter.

A Silver Christmas.

This week's challenge at Merry Monday Christmas challenge blog is Black, White and Grey/Silver, and I had the perfect image for the challenge. I use another of my PSX stamps to create my card. PSX stamp company isn't in business anymore but they made beautiful stamps, the one I used is Christmas Village #K-1603.

The scene was stamped with versamark watermark ink and embossed with pearl silver embossing powder, layered on black and silver scraps and popped up on the white layer. The black lace ribbon was sitting on my table just waiting to be used.

Finished the inside with a Stampenous sentiment.

Just Another Vintage Christmas for the Jingle Belles Rock Challenge!!!

On Friday when the Jingle Belles Rock challenge arrived in my "in-box" I had so many ideas and started with two of my vintage stamps, one was Father Christmas you can see it HERE and the other was from the same company PSX. Both I stamped on Very Vanilla and as I said in my other post the copics don't seem to work well on it but I persevered with the colouring.  Here is my second card for the challenge.

So sad that this company is no longer making these gorgeous stamps but you can still find them on e-bay. In keeping the vintage feel I chose some patterned paper from a pack I bought 5 years ago.

Close up of these adorable robins

I used the extra piece of patterned paper for the inside of the card, now you can see just how vintage it is. The sentiment is from Stampendous, the name of it is not visible.

Shopping Our Stash #243 ~~ Oh Me Lucky Charms

Shopping Our Stash #243 Oh me lucky charms ~~ St. Patrick's Day project, which is in two days, do you celebrate? I usually make a couple of cards for my out of town friends to let them know I'm thinking of them. I don't have many St. Patrick's day stamps (two) but I used my favourite one.

Fluffles is saying Top 'o the Morning

Close up of the image

I found this on Pinterest and printed it for my inside sentiment.

Most everything on my card was from the scrap pile, the image was already coloured waiting to be used. The patterned paper was on my desk for another project but it didn't get used until today.

The Spirit of Christmas Past ~~ New Challenge at the Jingle Belles Rock!!

Oh my when I saw the challenge on Friday I was delighted and I headed to the craft room climbed up on my stool and rummaged through all my Vintage stamps, I can now make a whole week of cards!!! But I decided to start with one. Don't want you to OD on Christmas posts. My first card is with a stamp I really haven't used much, I think this is the first card I have made with the Father Christmas stamp from PSX, the company is no longer in business but can be found on ebay the number is K2045. I decided to bite the bullet and colour this with my copics (note to self ~ do not use very vanilla cardstock with copics) Of course after all my work I was determined to finish it.

The music sheet is from pinterest and I spritzed it with cranberry shimmer mist (SU) Santa's beard was painted with white liquid pearls mixed with a touch of water.

Finished the inside with a "top note" with my newest favourite sentiment.

Thanks for visiting today and if you want to have a nice stash of Holiday cards come December you should join the fun with the two ladies at the Jingle Belles Rock.

In A Galaxy Far, Far Away ~~ Challenge #242 at Shopping Our Stash

Looking for my Clear it Out post? scroll down or click HERE.

Wow another super interesting challenge at Shopping Our Stash, In a galaxy far, far away means we want you to create something to do with Star Wars, UFOs, Aliens there are so many choices and so much fun.  Now here I am again really being tested on the challenges, first the dreaded one layer then no white on a project and now something I have nothing in my huge stash of digis, stamps or even paper to work with....to the rescue again....Pinterest.  I found a colouring book image that I could resize and once it was coloured the card sort of evolved. Here is what I came up with for the challenge.

I had a plan to open and use my texture paste, I have no idea where my pallet knife is, in fact the whole box of oil paints is missing so on to plan B....I used a stencil from Crealies I purchased it from a local buy sell board. First I inked it with versamark water mark then embossed it with Ranger Red.Embossing Tinsel, I now have red tinsel on everything. The sentiment is computer generated.

The inside is finished with a Penny Black sentiment 365 days.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will go to the dark side and show us a project with Aliens, UFOs or go deeper to Star Wars.

It's Your Favourite Challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday~~Anything Goes!!!

The new challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday  is Anything goes with the stash item of Patterned paper that is at least 1 year old, (mine is over 10 yo). The sponsor for the challenge is Sami Stamps there are some super cute digis there, new ones for Easter too, don't forget to check them out.

I chose this super sweet image of a mom and baby, it's adorable. The image was cut with Elizabeth craft Designs Stitched Rectangles.  The patterned paper is very old, over 10 years old, not many sheets left of it though. The patterned paper was attached to the pink layer with "real stitching". I added a die cut sentiment from Impression Obsession (it comes with the word Boy too) a trio of gems and a bit of ribbon finished the front.

The inside is finished with "Baby Love" sentiment from Stampendous.

I would like to enter this in:

Sami Stamps  Real or Faux stitching (I used real and faux)

Thanks for visiting today, please join us for the Anything goes with patterned paper older than one year.

Shake, Shake, Shake that Snowman Shaker

Happy Monday, what a lovely day here in SWO, the sun is shining and the temperature is supposed to hit the double digits in Celsius. My son stopping in this morning to visit which delayed my errands to the afternoon which gave me the time to create a card for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge. I had printed off a sketch but (good job I checked) it was over so on to the next sketch challenge blog, Freshly Made Sketches which worked better for my card. I used a lot of scraps and an already stamped image so that was a bonus. So keeping up with the two fabulous ladies at the Jingle Belles here is my Christmas card.

I have many shaker card shapes small circles, hearts, squares and a large circle. Only the last one has ever been used, and all but the large circles are over 5 years old. Now the snowman brad is fairly new but the package had never been opened.....so that is two for the NBUS challenge.

Now look at the cool beads, I found a neat package with 10 tubes of beads in all colours and it was $2.00 at Dollarama.

Finished inside using more scraps.

Challenges I would like to enter:

Jingle Belles Rock Layer it on Me (at least 3 layers) I'm sure this qualifies.

NBUS  #6 Day 7 snowman brad, shaker circle, beads.

Well that all being done it's time to go to publish, Thanks for looking today!!!

G is for Gears (Steampunk) at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

March came in like a lion and I hope it goes out like a lamb. It give me hope that spring is just around the corner. With the weather out of the way it's on with the challenge, the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers wants you to get your steampunk on as it's G is for Gears.  I don't love steampunk, it scares me, but I dug in deep, surfed the web and pinterest and found something I though I could pull off. So here it is!!!

For this card I used Tim Holtz visual Artistry collection clear stamps (picked them up for $5) I used the penny farthing stamp from Feeling Sentimental a SAB set from a couple of years ago. I embossed a strip of copper cardstock with the gears embossing folder then dug out some metallic rub-ons I bought at least 6 or more years ago and never used. Blue, Purple and copper are the colours I used.
The cogs are punched with the Stampin'up punch (retired)

Check out the metallic rub-ons

A simple vertical Happy Birthday (Artful Stamper) and a few cogs and the left over patterned paper.

Every time I start to create I look for a challenge, well every two weeks the House Mouse and Friends has a Monday challenge this one is Easter then I checked out the sketches I had listed and Stella Says Sketch looked like it would work great with my image. What do you think?

I chose spring colours and flowers just to make believe spring will arrive soon. I cut the rectangles with Elizabeth Craft stitched rectangles, added the cute die cut bunny and some grass to make it look like he is hiding,

Close up of the super cute house mouse and the die cuts too.
